    Memory

Memory combines science and performance in order to come to terms with circus under National Socialism.

Contemporary Viennese artists are made familiar with historically researched biographies of artists persecuted during the Second World War. These biographies are implemented in small performances, which are shown during the walks around historical places. Places that have been found through historical research and have a direct relationship to the lives of the persecuted artists.

  • Spectacle müssen seyn!

    Spectacle müssen seyn!

There were quite a few „Spectacle“ in Vienna, a city with a rich circus history. The performative city walk visits the historic Viennese circus venues in the district of Leopoldstadt and sheds light on the glory and the dark sides of this „proletarian“ art form as well as the further development to today’s contemporary form. A performance between the past and the present.

  • Wiener Teppich – an art video

Wiener Teppich – an art video

A 250-meter-long red carpet – originally intended for an interactive performance – is cut into different sized parts in the wake on Covid-19 and thus converted into mobile stages in two municipal buildings. The image of artists and residents on a piece of carpet stands as a metaphor for “physical distancing” and at the same time for a unifying action that overcomes the barriers between those involved. The short film is also a contemporary portrait of two important municipal and social housing developments in Vienna, together with their special architecture and above all – with its diverse residents.

    OUT-SIDE-IN

OUT-SIDE-IN is ego portrait’s current research project.

The performance we are working on is not a show in a conventional way, we understand it as a performance process.

All participants -the performers and the audience- can give information from their inside out, as well as take the outside information in. The aim is to create an honest dialogue.

  • The Magic Flute

    The Magic Flute

Magic opera, Singspiel, a comedy with spectacular stage effects, Masonic ritual with Egyptian mysteries, heroic-comic opera? Die Zauberflöte is heard more often and has been more frequently performed, discussed, queried and interrogated than almost any other work in the history of opera. It is rare for the mysteriousness and multiformity of a work to be adjured with such mantric intensity. It is equally rare for a work to enjoy such undisputed success despite all these debates – and for over two hundred years at that.
